EdPuzzle makes it easy to transform passive video watching into an interactive learning experience. By integrating EdPuzzle with Moodle, you can create engaging video assignments that encourage active participation. This tutorial focuses on the integration process, guiding you step-by-step to add EdPuzzle videos to your Moodle course. Please note that you will need to have your videos already set up in EdPuzzle before proceeding with this tutorial.
Create link in Moodle to EdPuzzle
On your course page, make sure that editing is turned on by clicking the Edit mode toggle in the upper right corner of your course page. Scroll to the desired Topic or Week, and at the bottom of that section click Add an activity or resource. In the window that appears, select EdPuzzle from the list of options.
On the next screen, click the Select content button.
A login window will appear. Log in using the credentials you normally use to access EdPuzzle from their website. You may log in with an email address and password or scroll down to log in with another account type. After you have logged in the first time, your Moodle account is connected to EdPuzzle and you should not have to log in again when accessing EdPuzzle in the future.
Once you are logged in, you will see a list of videos that you have added to your content in EdPuzzle. Select the video you would like to assign to your students.
A preview of the selected video will display on the screen. Scroll down and click Next to proceed.
Once you've selected the assignment, configure the settings to tailor the experience for your students.
- Attempts: Specify how many times students can complete the assignment. Options include a set number (up to 5) or unlimited attempts.
- Prevent Skipping: Enable this option to ensure students watch the video in its entirety without skipping ahead.
- Speed Up Videos: Allow students to adjust the playback speed of the video. When enabled, students can choose from speeds of 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and 2x.
- Closed Captions: Enable this option to display captions over the video (if available). Activating captions is recommended to enhance accessibility.
After you have configured the assignment, click Assign.
Clicking Assign will take you back to your Moodle settings for the EdPuzzle activity. A green checkmark next to the Select content button will indicate that the content has been successfully linked. In addition, the Activity name will be pre-populated with the title of the video. You can adjust this text if desired. When you are ready, scroll down and click Save and return to course.
