Quizzes have visibility settings not found in assignments and other modules. Usually an issue with these settings is what prevents students from seeing their quiz grades.
To access the specific visibility settings for a quiz, first turn editing on. Then, click the three-dot menu to the right of the quiz and select Edit settings from the dropdown menu.

Scroll down to Review Options. This section allows you to control what the students see and when. Points, when checked, allows the students to see the points they earned. Maximum points, when checked, allows the students to see the total points available. Note that Maximum points must be checked in order to enable Points.
You may see Marks instead of Points, and Maximum marks instead of Maximum points. This occurs when you have your preferred language in Moodle set to "English" rather than "English (United States)."
The settings for ensuring your students' scores are visible will depend on whether you've set the quiz to close at a certain time:
- If you have set a close time, and you want all student scores hidden until that close time, check Points and Maximum Points in the "After the quiz is closed" column.
- If you have set a close time, and you want the students to see their scores immediately after they complete the quiz, even if the quiz hasn't closed for other students, check Points and Maximum Points in the last three columns: "Immediately after the attempt," "Later, while the quiz is still open," and "After the quiz is closed."
- If you have not set a close time, check Points and Maximum Points in the middle columns: "Immediately after the attempt," and "Later, while the quiz is still open."
