Quiz Proctoring in Moodle for Students

To make a quiz in Moodle more secure, your instructor may use Quiz Proctoring.  This feature of Moodle will use your webcam to take pictures of you at random times while you take the quiz.  It will also take screenshots at random times while you take the quiz.

On the quiz page

Be sure to use Chrome when taking the quiz.  Close all other programs unless told otherwise by your instructor.

You'll know that Quiz Proctoring has been enabled when you see this message on the quiz page.

Allow access to your camera

Chrome may ask for permission to access your camera.  If you see this window pop up, click Allow.

Starting the attempt

When you click the Attempt quiz now button on the quiz page, you'll see this screen pop up.  Click share screen.

Share your entire screen

If it isn't selected already, choose the Entire Screen tab.  Click the image of your screen, which will then be highlighted.  Finally, click the Share button at the bottom of the window

Agree and start quiz

After sharing your screen, check the box next to I agree with the validation process.  Finally, click the Start Quiz button to begin the quiz.  The rest of the quiz will proceed like other Moodle quizzes you've taken.
