1. Download the Adobe Scan app to your phone
2. Open and sign in to Adobe Scan
- Open the Adobe Scan app. The first time you access the app, you will need to create an account and sign in.
- Select Sign in with Google and select or enter your gmail credentials when prompted.
3. Accept terms and grant permission (only needs to be done the first time you use the app)
- Scroll down and tap the checkbox to indicate that you have read and accept the Terms of Use. Tap the Continue button
- Tap the Let's Go button
- Tap Allow to allow Adobe Scan to take pictures and record video
4. Prepare for scanning
- Toward the bottom of the screen is a selector with various scan options. Select Document.
- Prepare your pages to scan by placing them on a flat surface. For best results, you should scan pages in a well lit room.
5. Hold your phone above the page you want to scan
To avoid skewing, hold your phone centered directly above the document so that the camera is parallel to the paper. Your phone should be close enough to the page to capture a clear view, but leave some room around the page to ensure that the entire page is captured.
6. Begin scanning
- If prompted, tap the screen to initiate the scanning process (this may happen automatically without requiring you to tap).
- Hold the phone still and wait for the app to automatically recognize the document and complete the scan.
- If for some reason the app does not recognize the document, you can tap the round grey button at the bottom of the screen to manually initiate the scan.
7. Adjust scan borders
- Once the scan is complete, you will have the option to adjust the borders of the scan by tapping and dragging the blue borders. Be sure to make sure that all relevant content is within the borders. Anything outside the borders will be removed.
- When your borders are correct tap Continue.
- If your scan is problematic in some way, tap Retake to repeat the scanning process for this page.
8. Scan more pages
After you tap Continue you will return to the scanning interface to scan another page into the same document. Repeat the process by holding the camera above the next page in the series. Repeat the scanning process until all pages have been scanned. All of the pages will be compiled into one PDF document.
9. Finish scanning
In the bottom right corner of the screen you will see a thumbnail of the last scanned page along with a number indicating the total number of pages that have been scanned. Tap this to review the pages in your scanned document.
10. Review your scans
- Swipe right or left to review each scanned page. At the bottom of the page you will see additional tools for editing your scans:
- Reorder: Tap on a page, hold, and drag to the new location.
- Crop: Adjust the borders (this is the same function that you see immediately after completing the scan)
- Rotate: Tap this button to rotate the selected page 90 degrees. Continue tapping until the page is displaying in the correct direction.
- By default, your scan will be named by date. Give your scan an appropriate name by tapping the pencil icon above the name, typing in a new name and tapping Save.
- When your scans are finalized tap Save PDF.
